Jessica Bell of the New Democratic Party (NDP), has represented the University-Rosedale riding (District 112) since her success in the 2018 election. She was re-elected on June 2. Of the 49,412 votes cast in the University-Rosedale riding in 2018, Bell earned 24,537 of them (49.66 per cent), followed by Liberal candidate Jo-Ann Davis who earned 10,898 votes (22.06 per cent), PC candidate Gillian Smith who earned 10,431 votes (21.11 per cent) , and Green Party candidate Tim Grant who earned 2,652 votes (5.37 per cent).

TDSB repair backlog reflects critical state of infrastructure

With both the federal and provincial governments making significant investments in public infrastructure, the Ministry of Education’s release of information detailing the maintenance backlog in Ontario raises a serious question: are we doing all that we can to maintain our buildings once they are built? The evidence suggests that we are not, and that our penchant for funding new infrastructure while ignoring our existing capital assets is ringing in a very high cost.

Legislation aimed at being more responsive to survivors

Recently, the Select Committee on Sexual Violence and Harassment submitted its final report to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. I am privileged to have been a member of this all-party, non-partisan committee of the Legislature. The recommendations that came out of this committee were developed through the testimonies of those who came forward with personal stories and firsthand experiences. These will help establish a foundation for future action.
