MP and city councillors support proposition

A new home is needed to showcase Toronto’s history, and Casa Loma may be just the ticket.
“The reason why it is a very good venue is because Casa Loma is recognized as one of the top three tourists attractions in the city of Toronto,” said city councillor Joe Mihevc (Ward 21 St. Paul’s).

Doors Open Toronto gave residents and tourists the opportunity this weekend to get outdoors and in doors of some of the city’s most unique and stunning buildings.

After years of power struggles, the City of Toronto took control of Casa Loma (1 Austin Terrace) from the Kiwanis Club, which has managed the historic castle for almost 75 years.
The city owns Casa Loma, but had contracted out management to the charity since 1937.
