Mirvish Village’s internationally-known comics and graphic novel retailer The Beguiling has already begun moving to its new location at 319 College St. Its sister store, Little Island Comics on Bathurst Street, will be closed. The store’s Peter Birkemoe says he expects to open the new location just before Christmas, and be fully operational by January.

The Toronto Police Service has arrested and charged 55-year-old Jeffrey Dewey of Toronto with sexual assault and impersonating a peace officer in connection with a Sept. 11 incident. At 12:06 p.m., a 36-year-old woman was in the College Street and Spadina Avenue area, when a man approached her and showed an object resembling a police badge, before proceeding to sexually assault her. It is alleged that Dewey may have assaulted other women, and police are asking them to come forward. Dewey has two distinctive tattoos: a mermaid on his left bicep, and a large multi-coloured star with a human eye in the middle of his right forearm. Crime in 14 Division for August and September was less than the previous year across six major categories, reported Detective Sergeant Brian Kelly at a Community Police Liaison Committee meeting on Sept. 20. The division’s boundaries are Spadina Avenue, Bathurst, Front, and Adelaide streets.
